Cops probe robbery of cabdriver in Baldwin
Detectives are investigating the robbery early Thursday of a cabdriver in Baldwin.
The 25-year-old driver with Dawson Taxi Co. was dispatched to an address in the 600 block of Brooklyn Avenue to pick up a fare shortly before 1 a.m., Nassau County police said in a news release.
An unknown male approached the cabbie on foot from the front of the address and "demanded his money or he would shoot him," police said. The suspect fled on foot, west on Brooklyn Avenue, with an undetermined amount of cash, police said. The driver was not injured.
Police described the suspect as about 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall and with a slim build. He was unshaven, and wore a blue baseball cap with a white hooded sweatshirt that had a red design on the front.
Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to anonymously call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
