Cops probe Roosevelt shooting
First Squad detectives are investigating the shooting of a man as he stood in front of a Roosevelt fruit market Wednesday, Nassau County police said.
Police said a 20-year-old man was standing near the entrance of the WZ Fruit Market at 124 Park Ave., at about 7 p.m. when he heard multiple gunshots. The man felt sharp pain in his lower legs, police said in a report, and managed to enter the store as a clerk called 911.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for bullet wounds to both his calves. Police said he was in stable condition and was unable to provide any description of the shooter.
Police found seven 9-mm shell casings at the intersection of Mirin Avenue and Park Avenue.
