Police are investigating a Wednesday morning Roosevelt street robbery in which a 72-year-old man was attacked and injured.

The victim was getting into his car outside his Ronald Place home at 7:58 a.m. when the assailant approached him, demanded money, and a struggle ensued, Nassau County police said in a Thursday news release.

"The subject then struck the victim in the face, removed his wallet and fled on foot in an unknown direction," police said.

The victim suffered cuts to his face and was treated at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-244-TIPS.
