A 31-year-old woman was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot early Wednesday on Bayview Avenue in Inwood, Nassau County police said.

Police said the shooting occurred about 12:30 a.m. during a dispute between a group of males on the street.

The nature of that dispute was not immediately known.

It also was not clear how many people were involved in that dispute, police said.

But, police said, at some point shots were fired and the woman, a bystander whose identity was not released, was struck in the pelvic area. The group then fled the scene on foot.

Police said the investigation is continuing on Wednesday.
