Cops probe shot fired in Freeport
Nassau County police are investigating a shot fired Tuesday afternoon at an abandoned house in Freeport, according to a spokeswoman.
The spokesman said ShotSpotter detection technology recorded a shot fired on Stevens Street at about 1:40 p.m.
The spokesman had no other information.
The ShotSpotter system uses sound-sensing equipment to detect gunfire and explosive incidents. Once the system identifies gunfire or a related explosion, data is transmitted to software that helps law-enforcement officials pinpoint the location of the incident.
