Police responding to a ShotSpotter notification and a 911 call for shots fired in Freeport found bullet holes in a building, a glass door and an awning Saturday and are searching for the shooter - or shooters.

The shots were reported on Sept. 11 at 9:40 p.m. along Broadway in Freeport, Nassau County police said. Police said they found the bullet holes at 56 Broadway, and witnesses told responding officers that the shots followed "a verbal altercation" between "two groups of males congregating" near the location.

Police are asking that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
