The Fifth Squad is investigating two shootings Sunday in Elmont that hospitalized one man and wounded another less seriously, Nassau County police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot while standing on Roquette Avenue and taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Police had no information on his condition.

Just before the shooting on Roquette Avenue, another man, 28, was on the corner of Pelham Street and Roquette when he was shot in both thighs, police said. He was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

Both shootings occurred shortly before 1 a.m., police said in a news release.

A police spokeswoman said that the incidents are being investigated but "at this time, we're not saying the shootings are related at all."

Around the same time, a dispute in Franklin Square lead to shots being fired, police said. About 1:30 a.m., a man became involved in a dispute with residents of a home on Esther Street, police said. He got a gun from his vehicle and fired two shots into the air outside the home before driving off. No injuries or damage to property was reported, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
