Cops probe two Woodbury car crashes

Two early-morning accidents briefly closed Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury Monday and a helicopter had been requested to airlift one crash victim to Nassau University Medical Center, police said.

Nassau County police said the first accident, at Jericho and Plainview Road, occurred around 6:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles. A second crash occurred shortly after -- and involved three vehicles, police said. It was not immediately clear which crash the person being airlifted was involved in.

Police also said it was not immediately clear how many people were involved in the crashes or if anyone else was injured. It also was not immediately clear what caused the accidents. Police said the situation remains under investigation.
