Nassau County police said they are investigating a 911 call about a woman being approached by four men in dark jackets who took her in a white van and drove off. According to the caller, the incident happened at 8 a.m. Thursday near 116th Road and 240th Street in Elmont.

Police said no missing persons reports have been filed. There are no unconfirmed absences from Elmont High School.

"We're calling it what it is, an unusual incident," police spokeswoman Jean DeLuca said Friday. "We don't have a crime at this point. We don't know what we have."

Here's what was reported to police: A female witness said she saw four males dressed in dark jackets exit a white van, approach a female pedestrian, and take her into the van.

The van had tinted windows, police said. It possibly had the word "gardening" on the vehicle. The female wore a black waist-length jacket and light-colored blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
