Police are investigating the death of a Westbury man who was found in his basement apartment by his landlord.

Nassau County police said the victim, identified Monday as Earl J. Borden, 54, was found "unresponsive" in a basement apartment on Rutland Street around 9 a.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead by a Nassau County AMT at about 9:10 a.m., police said.

Police said the cause of death is unknown "pending toxicology results," and the medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy.
