Cops: Queens man stole Wi-Fi transmitters that fell off truck

A Queens man was arrested Monday, after police said he stole Wi-Fi transmitters that fell off a truck on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho.
Bryan Urbano, 21, of 135-20 82nd Ave., Jamaica, stopped his vehicle on Aug. 14 at 11:15 a.m. and recovered some of the 24 Cisco transmitters that had fallen onto the roadway, Nassau County police said.
The truck driver was a subcontractor for Cablevision, and was traveling westbound on the LIE at the time, police said in a news release. Cablevision is Newsday's parent company.
On Monday, Second Squad detectives, along with Cablevision, completed an investigation in which Urbano was observed exchanging the transmitters for cash in Lake Success, according to officials. The detectives recovered six of the stolen devices.
Urbano was charged with grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
