Nassau police say they arrested a Queens woman Monday for reportedly stealing $39,000 from local banks using fraudulent bank debit cards.

Detectives with the Crimes Against Property Squad say that between July and August, Valkeya Jones, 24, made numerous unauthorized withdrawals from various Nassau Citibank locations.

Police say she used a bank card "encoded with fraudulent account information" to gain access to several customers' accounts and withdrew thousands of dollars.

She was arrested in Mineola at 11 a.m., where police found her carrying a fraudulent debit card.

Jones was charged with third-degree grand larceny, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and first-degree defraud. She is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
