Cops: Raid leads to big fireworks bust in Baldwin
A police raid on a Baldwin home Wednesday led to the seizure of 441 cases of fireworks and the arrest of two residents, Nassau County police said.
Two others also were arrested after police said vice detectives witnessed them loading plastic bags filled with fireworks purchased at the home into their car.
Arrested at 596 Joy Blvd. following the raid were Dominick J. Fariello, 39, and Gail Finckin, 40, police said.
Two minor children - one 10, one 12 - were in the home at the time of the 6:50 p.m. search.
Fariello was charged with labor law felonies, among them storage of explosives, police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Finckin was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was issued a desk appearance ticket, police said.
Police said two men arrested after they were seen carrying fireworks from the residence - Frank E. Kircher, 41, of 11 Brightwood St. in Patchogue, and James L. Puckett, 18, of 25 Lee Avenue in Patchogue - were charged with unlawfully dealing with fireworks. They also were released on a desk appearance ticket, police said.
