Cops respond to ShotSpotter alert, find casings
Officers responding to a ShotSpotter call in Uniondale late Tuesday found shell casings on the ground, but were unable to find the shooter -- or shooters.
Nassau County police said the casings were found on Adams Street and Nassau Road by First Precinct patrol officers responding to a ShotSpotter notification on Nassau Road at 10:25 p.m. No property damage or injuries were reported.
A canvass of the area found a witness who "reported hearing a group of males arguing" before hearing "several shots in the area," police said.
Police said all of the suspects fled on foot north toward Uniondale Avenue.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
