Nassau detectives are looking for a robber who stole jewelry from a woman in East Garden City Wednesday, then tried to sexually assault her.

The woman was walking about 5:30 a.m. in a parking lot by Stewart and Selfridge avenues when the robber attacked her from behind, police said.

He ran off, and the victim was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released, police said.

The suspect appeared to be 5 feet, 7 inches to 6 feet tall, had a medium build and wore black pants and black shoes, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
