A Roosevelt man was arrested Thursday for starting a fire inside at a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Lynbrook, Nassau County police said.

Diquan Booker, 25, is charged with second-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of marijuana and an unrelated warrant charge, police said.

He will be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Authorities responded to a fire alarm at the hotel at 1 Sunrise Hwy. on Sept. 28. Upon arrival, officers saw smoke and water coming from Room 114, and as a result, the building was evacuated, police said.

No injuries were reported.

An investigation led police to Booker, who was found in his vehicle on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard at 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

During his arrest, police found marijuana on Booker's possession, police said.
