A Seaford man faces charges of driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law after officers caught him driving drunk in Wantagh Saturday with a 15-year-old girl as one of his passengers, Nassau County police said.

Richard Weber, 18, of 2225 Walsall St., was driving a 2009 Nissan with three passengers, including the 15-year-old, at about 2:05 a.m. when he was pulled over, police said.

Police said the girl was released to her parents at the scene.

Weber is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony under Leandra's Law, driving while his ability was impaired by drugs and alcohol and driving while his ability was impaired by alcohol, police said.

He was scheduled to appear Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Under Leandra's Law, passed a year ago, the aggravated driving charge is a felony. The law was passed after the death of Leandra Rosado, 11, who was killed in an alleged DWI accident after the minivan in which she was a passenger crashed on the West Side Highway in Manhattan.
