Nassau County police are searching for a driver who they say followed a boy as he walked Friday on a Stewart Manor street.

Police said the boy, 11, was walking west on Chester Avenue toward Covert Avenue at 3 p.m. when a vehicle began driving alongside him.

The driver of the vehicle, described as a man in his 60s with long gray hair, yelled to the boy, who began running, police said.

Police said the driver followed the boy for two blocks, until the boy reached a group of children.

The vehicle then left, police said.

Police described the vehicle as maroon with gray trim, possibly a Subaru or Hyundai station wagon, with rust spots and items hanging from the mirror.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
