Cops seek bat-wielding robber in Uniondale
A Uniondale man returning home shortly after midnight Wednesday was robbed of his wallet and cell phone by a robber wielding an aluminum baseball bat, Nassau police said.
The victim, 21, was outside his Warren Street home about 12:20 a.m. when he was approached by a male brandishing a bat, who demanded his property, police said. The victim gave up his wallet and cell phone, then went inside to call 911, police said.
Third Precinct officers and a canine unit canvassed the area, police said.
The wallet and cell phone were found on the victim's front lawn, but his Social Security card and a bank card were missing, police said.
The suspect had his hair in cornrows, a bandana over his face and baggy jeans, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
