A 31-year-old man was stabbed in Hempstead early Saturday morning after an argument with another man turned violent, Nassau County police said.

The victim, whom police did not identify, got into an argument with a man at about 1:45 a.m. behind 58 Main St., officials said. The argument escalated and the other man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the back several times, police said. The man then ran away.

The stabbing victim was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no further details about the attacker, officials said.
