Police are searching for a man seen on a video surveillance system last month burglarizing a restaurant on Old Country Road in Carle Place.

The burglary took place at Vincent's Clam Bar at 1:48 a.m. Jan. 17, Nassau County police said.

Cash was taken, police said. In addition, police said two touch-screen computer cash registers, two cash drawers and a computer screen were damaged during the break-in.

Police said Third Precinct officers on routine patrol were alerted to the burglary by a bread delivery man, who said he noticed that the front door to the restaurant appeared to be damaged.

An investigation revealed there was video surveillance footage, showing a man, about 5-foot-7, 190 pounds, wearing light-colored sweatpants, a gray hooded sweatshirt, skullcap and black backpack, approaching the front door -- then entering the vestibule area.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
