Nassau County police are seeking a man wanted for assaulting a woman and stealing her wallet last week at a New Hyde Park supermarket.

Photos taken from video surveillance at a Pathmark supermarket at 2335 New Hyde Park Rd., show the suspect who Nassau County police said took a wallet from a pocketbook in an unattended shopping cart at about 6:40 p.m. on March 24.

When the woman tried to confront the man, he threw her into a display rack and she fell to the floor, police said.

The man fled with an unspecified amount of money from the wallet, police said, and the woman declined medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is about 50 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds with a thin mustache, wearing black clothing and glasses.
