Police are searching for a man who stabbed a 24-year-old man, possibly with a screwdriver, during an argument in Great Neck Park late Monday.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was treated at a hospital after the attack in the park on Middle Neck Road at about 9:30 p.m., Nassau County police said.

The extent of those injuries was not immediately known Tuesday, though police said the victim was stabbed "several times.".

Police said the victim was sitting underneath a gazebo in the park when he was approached by a man -- and the two soon began to argue. During that argument, the victim was stabbed, police said. The assailant then fled on foot westbound on Arrandale Avenue.

Police are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
