Third Squad detectives are looking for a man who stabbed a security guard in the face Monday as he fled an East Garden City store wearing a pair of stolen designer sneakers.

The suspect put on a pair of black, Phat Farm sneakers inside the Burlington Coat Factory store at 650 Stewart Ave. at about 2:40 p.m. and then tried to leave the store without paying for them, police said.

When stopped by a security guard, the suspect stabbed the guard in the face and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police said the security guard was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. They did not provide more information on his condition.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
