Police are searching for a bank robber who they said wore a wig, eye glasses and a Rastafarian-style hat when he held up a Chase bank branch in West Hempstead on Monday.

The robbery took place at about 1:40 p.m. at the bank branch on Hempstead Turnpike.

Nassau County police said the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, is between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot tall with a medium-stocky build. He handed the teller a demand note, police said.

Police said there were 11 customers inside the bank when it was robbed. The suspect, handed cash by the teller, fled the scene on foot, police said.

No one was injured.

Police ask anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
