Cops seek suspects in attack on bicyclist in Freeport
First Squad detectives are looking for a group of men who attacked a Freeport bicyclist early Sunday, stealing his bike and stabbing him, Nassau County police said.
Detectives said a 20-year-old man was riding his bike near 111 W. Merrick Road at about 4:40 a.m. when a group of 10 to 15 men between the ages of 16 and 18 stopped him, pushed and shoved him, and demanded that he give up the bike.
The bicyclist told police he felt a sharp pain in his back and released the bike. The group fled with it in an unknown direction, police said.
Later, when the victim went home, he discovered he had been stabbed in the back. He was taken to a local hospital by a family member. Police said he was in stable condition with three stab wounds.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All callers will remain anonymous.
