A speeding Brooklyn driver who tried to outrun troopers Monday morning on the Northern State Parkway near Lake Success - first at speeds of 100 mph and then on foot - faces drug possession and reckless driving charges, State Police said.

Troopers said Jon Rodriguez, 29, of 30 Chestnut St., was seen speeding east on the parkway near Exit 26, Lakeville Road, at about 3:50 a.m. When police tried to stop Rodriguez's black Volkswagen Jetta, he sped away, accelerating to more than 100 mph, police said.

Rodriguez tried to exit at New Hyde Park Road but lost control of the car and slid to the shoulder. He darted from the car, police said, but was caught after a short chase on foot.

Police said they found Rodriguez with a "clear plastic bag containing 23 rocks of crack cocaine."

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and resisting arrest and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
