A man was forced outside a bar and beaten and stabbed by a group of men in Bethpage early Sunday morning, Nassau County police said.

The 28-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, was inside El Encanto de Centro America bar at 2:30 a.m. when a group of six to eight men, all about 30 years old, came up to him, police said.

The men punched the victim in the face, then pushed him into the bar's parking lot. They assaulted the victim before fleeing in a white minivan driving east on Central Avenue, then south on Stewart Avenue.

After police arrived, officers discovered the victim lying on his stomach with stab wounds on his back. No weapon was recovered, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
