Cops: Store owner sexually abused employee

The owner of a Woodbury upholstery store was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual abuse of a male employee, Nassau police said.
Alfred Balcerak, 54, of Freeport, the owner of Dun Rite Upholstery, 6316 Northern Blvd., East Norwich, was in the store's Syosset warehouse, 18 W. Jericho Tpke., on May 21, police said, when he pulled an employee's pants down and grabbed the employee's genitals, police said.
The employee, a man in his 20s, immediately left the warehouse without further incident, police said.
Balcerak, a Level 3 registered sex offender, turned himself in at 4 p.m. Tuesday to officers in the Second Precinct in Woodbury, police said.
He was to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
Complete information concerning Balcerak's earlier record was not immediately available, but a Newsday article said he was convicted of sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy in 1998, and was sentenced to 5 years probation.
