Cops: Suspect eats, then tries to rob eatery owner
Nassau County police are seeking the suspect who attempted to rob a restaurant owner at knifepoint in Valley Stream Friday night.
Detectives said a man about 16 years old was eating inside Kim Wong Chinese Kitchen on Merrick Road at about 10:45 p.m. when he approached the 34-year-old male owner. The subject displayed a knife and demanded money from the register, police said.
The victim refused and the suspect fled on foot toward North Terrace Place. There were no injuries or loss of proceeds, police said.
The suspect was further described as being 5-foot-5, with a thin build and wearing dark clothing, police said.
