Cops: Suspect faked gun in Elmont robbery attempt
Nassau County police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in Elmont on Friday night.
Detectives said a 45-year-old man was in the rear parking lot of 1389 Hempstead Tpke. when he was approached by another man pretending to have a gun in his pocket.
The address maps to a commercial building.
The subject demanded the victim's property but quickly fled empty-handed when the victim screamed for help, police said. No injuries were reported and no weapon was seen, police said.
The described was described as being in his late 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.
