Cops: Suspect in Hempstead man's shooting death arrested

A Rockville Centre man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Hempstead man three weeks ago, police said.
Nassau County police said they located the suspect, Keon O. Williams, 37, in East Garden City and made the arrest Saturday night. He was charged with second-degree murder and will be arraigned Sunday in District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Tyree Sheppard, 34, was found wounded, lying on the sidewalk on Burnett Street in Hempstead, shortly before 4 p.m. on April 14.
The resident who found him flagged down a Hempstead police officer. Sheppard was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead minutes later, police said.
Further details about the shooting were not immediately available.
