Cops: Suspect sought after woman shot in Hempstead

An unidentified woman was shot on Beverly Road in Hempstead around 7:30 p.m. Friday, police said. Her injuries were minor, a Hempstead police spokesman said.

"Right now, we have a gunshot victim and we're just trying to secure the scene," he said.

Officers from Hempstead and Nassau were investigating.

Police were trying to determine if a male suspect was in a house on the street.

"We can't confirm he's in the house or not," the spokesman said.

The investigation was ongoing, he added.
