A Wantagh man was arrested after police said he threw a kitchen knife toward them as they responded to a report of a disturbance at his Duck Pond Drive home, Nassau police said.
Ira Goldberg, 41, was charged with menacing a police officer, possession of a dangerous weapon and aggravated harassment. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Around 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning, police responded to the Duck Pond Drive home for a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, Goldberg came out of the house holding a six-inch kitchen knife over his head, police said.
The responding officers ordered him numerous times to drop the knife, police said. After a "short hesitation," Goldberg hurled the knife at the officers and ran back into the house followed by the police, officials said.
While he was being arrested, Lilia Vasquez pushed an officer and attempted to interfere with the arrest, police said. She was subdued and arrested, and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, police said.
Vasquez, 38, of Creston Avenue in the Bronx, was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday.
Police did not say what Vasquez's relationship was with Goldberg.
