Cops: Suspects sought in attempted jeans robbery
First Squad detectives are looking for three men who tried to steal the blue jeans off a man who was wearing them at the time on Sunday in North Merrick, Nassau County police said.
The victim, an 18-year-old man, was walking on Meadowbrook Road near Bridge Street at about 2 a.m. when a white car with three men pulled to the side of the curb, police said.
All three men got out of the car and demanded the victim give up his jeans. After refusing, the victim was then punched near his right eye, "causing severe swelling and a laceration," police said.
The victim was able to run home to notify police, according to a news release.
Police said the victim sought his own medical treatment for the injuries.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
