A barefoot teenager was found walking on the shoulder of the Southern State Parkway Sunday afternoon, state police said.

Trooper Frank Bandiero, a state police spokesman, said by email that the 13-year-old girl doesn’t speak English. A call came in about the girl at 3:37 p.m.

“We’re trying to contact her next of kin,” Bandiero said.

Sgt. Imani Kirkland said a trooper responded to the location in the Baldwin area and found the girl “walking on the parkway.”

Kirkland, of the Valley Stream barracks, said the girl was being transported by a trooper and he was unsure whether she had any injuries.
