A teen has been arrested and charged with stealing the car of a man delivering Chinese food in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

The theft occurred about 6:25 p.m. Monday as the driver was making a delivery to a home on Sycamore Avenue, police said.

Ronald Seay, 17, of 145 Terrace Ave., threw the driver to the ground and drove away in his 1991 Toyota Corolla, police said. A short time later, officers saw the car on Fulton Avenue and North Franklin Street.

Police said Seay ran on foot after spotting the officers, but was arrested without any injuries after a short chase.

Seay was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on a charge of robbery in the second degree, police said. He was being held Tuesday pending a $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash bail.
