Cops: Teen tried gunpoint robbery in Freeport
A 16-year-old from Freeport was arrested Wednesday evening after police said he attempted to rob three teenagers at gunpoint, police said.
Ramiek Jackson, of 125 South Bayview Ave., was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree attempted robbery. He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Freeport police officers arrested Jackson minutes after police said he attempted the gunpoint robbery on Roosevelt Avenue in Freeport at 10:30 p.m. Police said the victims refused to hand over money, and the teen then fled the scene.
He was later spotted on South Long Beach Avenue and police said arresting officers found an unloaded Smith & Wesson revolver in his possession. No one was injured.
