Cops: Teen tried to grab cop's weapon
A Hempstead man has been arrested on charges of resisting arrest, obstruction and criminal mischief after he tried to take a police officer's weapon Sunday, Nassau County police said.
Police were called to the home of Christian Pimentel, 18, 40 Oak Ave., on a report of a domestic disturbance at about 1:50 a.m., according to a report.
Pimentel was found banging on the front door, trying to gain access, police said. When officers tried moving him from the door, Pimentel became combative, police said. One officer was assaulted, and Pimentel tried to get another officer's weapon, according to a report.
Police arrested Pimentel, and one officer was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for a broken ankle.
In addition, Pimentel also is charged with attempted robbery, police said.
He was scheduled for arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
