Cops: Teens charged in Elmont bike robbery
Four teens, three from Queens and one from Connecticut, were arrested and charged with stealing a Tony Hawk BMX bicycle from a trio of young kids playing on a street Sunday night in Elmont, police said.
The four were driving along Clay Street near Landau Avenue at about 9 p.m. when they saw the three kids, ages 12 and 13, police said. The teens exited their car, knocked one of the children off the bike, placed the bicycle in the rear of the car, and drove off, Nassau County police said.
The victim gave police a description of the vehicle, which was found a short time later on Hempstead Turnpike near Plainfield Avenue, near Belmont Park. The bicycle was recovered, police said, and the four teens arrested.
Arrested were Khadeem Clarke, 17, and St. Mark Clarke, 17, both of 119th Avenue, Jamaica; Clinton Westmoreland, 17, of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, Jamaica; and, Marc Francis, 18, of Long Ridge Road in Stamford, Conn. All were charged with second-degree robbery and are scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
