Two Hempstead teens were arrested Thursday after police said they stole a pair of sneakers from a teen in Uniondale, telling him they had a gun.

Nassau County police said the robbery occurred about 9 p.m. on Uniondale Avenue.

Kevin Allen, 16, of 77 Terrace Ave., and a 15-year-old who was not named because he is a juvenile, approached a 15-year-old, ordering him to remove his Air Jordan sneakers, police said. One of the teens told the victim he had a gun, police said, and the 15-year-old victim handed over the sneakers.

The victim then called his mother, who called police.

The 15-year-old suspect was caught near the intersection of Front Street and Valcour Avenue, police said. Police said Allen was located inside a barber shop on Front Street.

No gun was recovered, police said.

Police said both Allen and the 15-year-old were charged with first-degree robbery.

The 15-year-old was charged as an adult, police said. Allen also was charged with second-degree robbery.

He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
