Cops: Thief grabbed cash from man's pocket

A 59-year-old man waiting for a bus near the Green Acres Mall was robbed late Monday night by a man who walked up to him, reached into his pocket, took his money, then jumped into a getaway car, Nassau County police said.

The victim was not injured.

Police said the brazen robbery occurred at 11:55 p.m. on Green Acres Road in Valley Stream. They did not say how much money was stolen.

The robber fled in a red car headed toward Sunrise Highway, police said. The make and model of the car were not specified, and it was unclear if the car had New York plates.
