The third of four men police said were involved in a gang assault in Roosevelt last month in which a man was slashed and stabbed was arrested Tuesday and charged with weapons possession and assault, police said.

Nassau County police said Tyrone Wells, 19, of 190 E. Greenwich Ave., Roosevelt, was charged with first-degree gang assault, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.

Two other defendants - Justin Smith, 19, of 152 E. Greenwich Ave. and James McClenic, 18, of 42 John St. in Roosevelt - were arrested Tuesday and also charged with first-degree gang assault, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. They were arraigned Tuesday. Details of their arraignments were not immediately available Wednesday.

Police said they were part of a foursome that assaulted a 20-year-old man as he walked to the In and Out deli on Nassau Road in Roosevelt on Feb. 21 at about 10:30 p.m.

The victim was stabbed in the neck and slashed in the face, suffering what police called a severe laceration.

He was treated at Nassau University Medical Center.
