A 2-year-old boy remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday, one day after police said he nearly drowned in an indoor pool in Lawrence.

Nassau County police have not released the identity of the child and did not provide a location where the incident occurred -- other than to say it was at a residence.

The incident was reported in a 911 call at 12:15 p.m. Sunday and police said a family member told responding Fourth Precinct officers the child had been found in the indoor pool.

It was not clear how big the pool is or where it was located in the home. Police said the boy was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

An investigation is continuing.
