Cops: Tow-truck driver robbed in Uniondale
Two men, including one armed with a handgun, robbed a tow-truck driver in Uniondale on Saturday afternoon, Nassau County police said.
The tow-truck driver, 49, was operating his truck near Orchard Place at about 5:30 p.m. when two men came up to him, police said.
One of the men demanded cash and displayed a handgun, while the other climbed into the truck and took the driver's keys, cellphone and cash, police said.
The suspects then ran west on Orchard Place and were last seen heading north on Duryea Avenue, police said.
The man with the gun was described as thin and wearing a baseball-type cap, while the second man wore a white T-shirt and shorts. Both were described as between 20 and 25 years old.
