A Freeport man stopped Tuesday in Rockville Centre for a traffic violation had 3 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle, Nassau County police said.

Luis D. Rodriguez, 27, of 148 Pine St., is charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Rodriguez was pulled over at the intersection of Lakeview and Liberty avenues at about 8:55 p.m. in the traffic stop, Narcotics / Vice Bureau detectives said.

After an investigation, officers found the marijuana -- a street value of about $11,000 -- and Rodriguez was arrested without incident, police said.
