Two men are under arrest, charged with robbing a woman on a street in Valley Stream Monday night, police said.

Darrick Scarborough, 20, of Ridge, and Samuel Davis, 22, of Queens, were arrested shortly after fleeing the scene in a red 2007 Chevrolet, Nassau County police said. Both were charged with second-degree robbery.

The robbery took place on Fletcher Avenue at 7:41 p.m.

Police said the two men approached a 45-year-old woman as she was walking home on Fletcher, held her arms, punched her, pushed her to the ground -- then stole her cellphone and white pocketbook.

Police saw the suspects on Merrick Boulevard in Rosedale and conducted a traffic stop.

Police said officers found the stolen items in the car.

The woman, whose identity was not released, suffered a contusion to her head and a knee laceration. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released.

Scarborough and Davis are scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
