Cops: Two Nassau men arrested on weapon charges in Baldwin

Two men were arrested on weapons charges Sunday after a verbal disagreement escalated into a blade-crossed altercation at the Baldwin home of one of the men's former wife, Nassau County police said.

William Richardson, 43, of Manor Court in Hempstead, and Junior Morris, 52 of Carroll Street, Roosevelt, were at the home of Morris' ex-wife on Bixby Drive at about 1:30 p.m., police said, when the men pulled bladed weapons.

Richardson had a sickle-type branch cutter and Morris had a machete, police said. Morris sustained a severe cut to his hand and was treated at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said.

Morris is charged with possession of a weapon, criminal contempt and menacing, police said. Richardson, who has a court order of protection against Morris, police said, is charged with assault and possession of a weapon.

Each is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
