First Squad detectives are looking for a man and his accomplice who robbed two Nassau County women of their pocketbooks in the driveways of their homes Saturday night, police said.

First Squad detectives said the man waited for the women, approached them from behind and then ran to a dark-colored, late-model four-door car that was waiting for him.

In the first robbery, around 10:05 p.m. in Freeport, the man used a knife to make off with the pocketbook, police said. The man then fled on foot, east on Meadow Lane, to the waiting car.

In the second robbery, around 11 p.m. in Baldwin, the man attacked a woman, 49, just after she parked her car in her driveway.

She struggled with her assailant and chased after him as he ran north on Milburn Avenue, police said. The robber was seen entering a car with dull paint, police said.

Neither woman was injured, police said, and the man made off with a small amount of cash and personal papers in each robbery. The victim in Freeport also said a blue, Nikon digital camera was stolen.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All callers will remain anonymous.
