Fifth Squad detectives are looking for two men who tried to rob a couple in front of their West Hempstead home Thursday night, Nassau County police said.

According to a police report, the couple was sitting on the front steps of their Eagle Avenue residence at about 10:35 p.m. when two men, armed with a silver handgun, approached them and told them to go into the house.

When one of the victims told the men they were being recorded on a video camera, the two fled on foot, running west on Eagle Avenue, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All callers will remain anonymous.
